Recent Site News - June 2008

Recent additions and changes to this site are numerous. We have changed the name from "Blue Herons Nest" to "Blue Heron Wings". We have created our own photo database, searchable in many ways, and with an option for "photo window size" after some MSN problems were encountered by users. We succesfully added buttons to the "Virtual Voyagers" that allow both Links and Photos for Points of Interest to be presented below the map view. In the "Locations" area of the site, we have downloaded and placed all GNIS data available on Bays, Rivers, Natural Lakes, Manmade Reservoirs, Canals, Dams, Bends, Islands, Landings, Ferries, and Waterfalls into searchable database tables, complete with satellite "Viewers". Take a look see for yourself, and tell me what you think!!

Correction to the Upper Mississippi River Viewer

Terrill Power, who regularly camps on the Mississippi river upstream form Savanna IL, noticed that the actual river mile markers in the vicinity of mile 544 were two miles greater than the mile markers listed on the virtual voyager viewer. After investigating the discrepancy, it was found that all miles between mile 495 and 597 had been in error by two miles. Correction has been made, and many thanks to Terrill Power!
